Installation Guide
Tamsaek is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Follow the instructions below for your operating system.
System Requirements
Section titled “System Requirements”| Platform | Minimum Version | Architecture |

| Linux | Ubuntu 20.04 or equivalent | x64 |
Storage: ~500MB for app, ~3GB additional for AI features (optional)
Download
Section titled “Download”Visit tamsaek.space/download to get the latest version for your platform.
macOS Installation
Section titled “macOS Installation”- Download the
.dmgfile - Open the downloaded file
- Drag Tamsaek to your Applications folder
- On first launch, right-click and select “Open” (required for unsigned apps)
- Grant necessary permissions when prompted:
- Full Disk Access: Required to index your files
- Accessibility: Optional, for global hotkey support
Troubleshooting macOS
Section titled “Troubleshooting macOS”If you see “Tamsaek can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Scroll down and click Open Anyway
- Confirm by clicking Open
Windows Installation
Section titled “Windows Installation”- Download the
.exeinstaller - Run the installer
- Follow the installation wizard
- Launch Tamsaek from the Start Menu
Windows Defender SmartScreen
Section titled “Windows Defender SmartScreen”If Windows SmartScreen blocks the app:
- Click More info
- Click Run anyway
Linux Installation
Section titled “Linux Installation”Debian/Ubuntu (.deb)
Section titled “Debian/Ubuntu (.deb)”sudo dpkg -i tamsaek_*.debsudo apt-get install -f # Install dependencies if neededAppImage
Section titled “AppImage”chmod +x Tamsaek-*.AppImage./Tamsaek-*.AppImageFirst Launch
Section titled “First Launch”After installation:
- Choose folders to index: Select the folders you want to search
- Wait for initial indexing: This may take a few minutes depending on file count
- Start searching: Press the global hotkey (default:
Cmd+Spaceon macOS,Ctrl+Spaceon Windows/Linux)
