Installation Guide

Tamsaek is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Follow the instructions below for your operating system.

Storage: ~500MB for app, ~3GB additional for AI features (optional)

Visit tamsaek.space/download to get the latest version for your platform.

  1. Download the .dmg file
  2. Open the downloaded file
  3. Drag Tamsaek to your Applications folder
  4. On first launch, right-click and select “Open” (required for unsigned apps)
  5. Grant necessary permissions when prompted:
    • Full Disk Access: Required to index your files
    • Accessibility: Optional, for global hotkey support

If you see “Tamsaek can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”:

  1. Open System SettingsPrivacy & Security
  2. Scroll down and click Open Anyway
  3. Confirm by clicking Open
  1. Download the .exe installer
  2. Run the installer
  3. Follow the installation wizard
  4. Launch Tamsaek from the Start Menu

If Windows SmartScreen blocks the app:

  1. Click More info
  2. Click Run anyway

After installation:

  1. Choose folders to index: Select the folders you want to search
  2. Wait for initial indexing: This may take a few minutes depending on file count
  3. Start searching: Press the global hotkey (default: Cmd+Space on macOS, Ctrl+Space on Windows/Linux)
