Natural Language Search with AI

Stop thinking like a search engine. Instead of guessing keywords like report_Q3_2024_final_v2.pdf, just ask for what you want: “find the quarterly report I worked on last fall.” Tamsaek’s AI understands natural language.

Traditional search requires you to think like a computer:

  • Guess exact keywords
  • Remember file names
  • Construct filter syntax

AI-powered search lets you describe what you’re looking for naturally:

the presentation I made for the client meeting last month
find John's resume that he sent me
show me all receipts from restaurants
  1. Open Settings (gear icon or Cmd+,)
  2. Go to the AI tab
  3. Enable AI Search Mode
  4. Wait for model download (~3GB, one-time)

Toggle AI mode with:

  • Press Tab in the search bar
  • Click the AI icon (✨)
  • The search bar shows “Ask anything…” when AI is active

AI understands relationships and context:

John's presentation about marketing

→ Looks for presentations by/about John with marketing content

the spreadsheet my accountant sent

→ Searches for .xlsx files in email attachments or shared folders

Use regular search when:

  • You know exact keywords
  • You want precise filter control
  • Faster for simple queries

Use AI search when:

  • You remember vague details
  • Natural description is easier
  • Complex contextual queries
  1. Query Parsing: AI interprets your natural language
  2. Intent Extraction: Determines what you’re looking for
  3. Filter Generation: Converts to search filters (date, type, location)
  4. Semantic Search: Matches meaning, not just keywords
  5. Result Ranking: Orders by relevance to your intent
  • Model runs on your device
